Draft Master Plan 2019 North-East Region (Punggol) - URA

Creating Liveable & Inclusive Communities

Introducing New Homes in Familiar Places

More established towns such as Ang Mo Kio, Serangoon and Hougang will see new housing options at Lentor Hills, Lorong Chuan and Hougang Avenue 3. Punggol Point will also be enlivened with new waterfront facing housing precincts at Punggol Point.

Punggol Point
Located at the north-eastern tip of Punggol town, Punggol Point is envisioned as a green heritage estate, with easy access to dining, retail and recreational facilities. One of its highlights is the 1.5 km heritage trail along Old Punggol Road, which will seamlessly link Punggol Waterway Park and Punggol Digital District to Punggol Jetty.

Punggol Town Hub & Linear Green
Punggol Town Hub will be an integrated community hub featuring a regional library, hawker centre, community club, child care centre and health service centres. Linking Punggol Town Hub to Punggol Central and Waterway Point, the Linear Green under the viaduct will provide residents with a pleasant walk, dotted with playgrounds, fitness corners and lush greenery. Residents can also use it to walk to SAFRA Punggol and Punggol Regional Sport Centre conveniently.

Enhancing our Commutes

Growing our Public Transport & Cycling Networks

Residents of the North-East will enjoy shorter and more convenient commutes. With the completion of the Thomson-East Coast Line (TEL) and Cross Island Line (CRL), the region will be served by 5 MRT lines by 2035. New Integrated Transport Hubs will also provide seamless inter-modal transfers and enhance accessibility to amenities.
We will progressively expand the cycling networks within our towns over the next 10-15 years.

Active Green & Blue Spaces For All

Creating New Recreational Opportunities

Residents will be able to access the wealth of greenery and waterways in the region more easily with new park connectors in future. There will also be new, varied recreational opportunities for all to interact and play together.
North-East Waterways
The promenades along our waterways at Serangoon Reservoir, Punggol Reservoir and My Waterway@Punggol are popular with cyclists and other recreational users. In the future, these waterways will be transformed into active spaces for water activities, connected to recreational nodes such as Punggol Regional Sport Centre, SAFRA Punggol and Anchorvale Community Club.

Community Engagement Projects

Punggol Linear Green Community Engagement
Over pop-up exhibitions and a workshop held at Waterway Point and Punggol Green Primary School, Punggol residents actively contributed their ideas, sketches and feedback to co-design the new Linear Green that will be built next to Punggol Town Hub.
